Organizations and Alternatives!

Organizations have been the instruments of growth and development in the hands of society for the last few centuries. Today the current socio-economic-technological realities are rendering the very concept of organizations transient and invalid.

What alternatives do we have? As MBA students, managers and management educators what options do we have at our disposal, which would empower us to look beyond the conventional models of organizations and organizing?

The network and the virtual organization metaphors have become main stream in the last twenty years. There seems to be a serious lack of models and metaphors that drive managerial practice with respect to organization design (the choice of the term itself may be outdated!)
